To protect files and text before you share them or upload them to an AI.

Drag the file into the Zecretly window, or right-click it in File Explorer and choose “Mit Zecretly schützen” (the menu entry is in German). The protected copy sits right next to the original, for example as Letter.zecretly.docx. Zecretly does not need to be open.

Select the text and press Ctrl+Alt+Z. Zecretly protects the text and puts it on the clipboard. A second press restores it.

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and emails in .eml and .msg format.

Names, companies, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, Swiss social security (AHV) numbers and customer numbers are replaced with placeholders such as [PERSON_1]. Amounts and dates are shifted or also replaced, depending on the level.

Normal replaces personal details only. Date and amount stay as in the original. Strong (default) shifts date and amount to other, matching values, and nothing is deleted. Maximum shows date and amount as placeholders only.

Yes. Zecretly puts a protected copy next to the original and does not change the original.

Open the protected file with Zecretly again. The local case file puts the real values back.

Files in the same folder share placeholders, factor and date shift. The same name gets the same placeholder in every file, so an AI may mix placeholders from several files in one answer.

After 30 days a new case file begins in the folder. The older one can still be restored as long as Zecretly still has the mapping. After 30 days without use, Zecretly deletes it the next time it starts.

Yes. Protecting and restoring run locally. Keys are stored encrypted on your own computer.

Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) in the folder %USERPROFILE%\.zecretly on your computer.

Only when you press the Ctrl+Alt+Z shortcut or click Copy in Zecretly.

In the Zecretly settings under Data, you delete one case file or all of them immediately.

The program is removed. The folder %USERPROFILE%\.zecretly stays so that you can still restore after a new installation. Delete the folder yourself if you no longer need Zecretly.

Paraphrases, text inside images and scanned PDFs without a text layer are not read reliably. With PDF, the layout is lost.
